Peter Levant, Principal

Levant Capital’s Principal, Peter Levant, has 20 years of professional experience in trading and investment research. From 1993 to 1994, Mr. Levant executed client transactions totaling more than $50 billion.

In 1991, Mr. Levant earned his Series 7 and 63 licenses and began his career with Dean Witter Reynolds in Chicago. In 1993, he moved to Morgan Stanley where he executed trades in many different markets. In 1995, Mr. Levant joined Optima Investment Research, at that time the world’s largest independent futures research firm. While at Optima, he opened the account for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In 1997, Mr. Levant managed a futures trading desk at Braymore Oak Brokerage Services, a guaranteed introducing broker for First American Discount which was later acquired by MAN Financial in Chicago.

In 1998, he founded Northern Advisors, his first research business. In 2007, he founded Levant Capital, an independent research firm serving institutional investors.

Peter Levant has a Masters in Finance from London Business School and a Masters of Business Administration with honors from EDHEC Business School in France. He attended Northwestern University, School of Continuing Studies, and majored in Economics. He attended the Commodities Institute at the Chicago Board of Trade and the Professional Traders Institute at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He has worked with handicapped children at the North Suburban Special Recreation Association in Northbrook, Illinois.

Peter also believes in bottom up research. While performing fundamental economic analysis, he traveled to more than 35 countries on four continents.
